Origami Wishes

Today is Monday, which means I got my prompt from Prompts & Happenstance. While I’m not going to reveal the prompts, I will share the pieces they inspired.

I have been known to scrawl my wishes onto onion skin paper. Crease its edges like an origami bird. I know paper cannot fly; I’m not a fool. Every time I write these wishes, I whisper a prayer to a god I’m not sure exists. My house is cluttered with papers. I try to throw them away, but every time my hands rest on one, I remember the wish, the prayer, buried within. If I commit these words to writing, perhaps they’ll be real.

If I commit these words to writing, perhaps the ink won’t melt. The intention won’t vanish.
