As I said yesterday, I haven’t written an avant garde poem in years, and it felt nerve-wracking posting one, especially an autobiographical one. I’m trying to do the things that scare me.
Last night, I got some reviews of my newest poem and I went to a local authors’ group where they discussed two chapters of one of my works-in-progress. I cringed and felt timid at first, but then it felt really good to talk about my characters and setting.
So I think being vulnerable and being comfortable with being scared is one of the best things a person can do.
Hopefully soon, there will be a Part II and stay tuned next week to see what I’m doing in honor of Banned Books Week this year!
